Breaking Silence, Belichick "Shocked and Disappointed"
New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick broke his silence Wednesday, four weeks after former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was charged with murder.
Belichick said he was "shocked and disappointed" when he learned of the situation. He said the team will tweak how they currently evaluate players.
"We try to look at every single situation on a case by case-by-case basis and try to do what's best for the football team and what's best for the franchise. Most of those decisions have worked out, but some don't. Overall, I'm proud of the hundreds of players that have come through this program and I'm personally disappointed and hurt in a situation like this."
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty after being arrested and charged on Jun2 16 in the shooting death of Boston semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd. Lloyd's body was found in an industrial park near the North Attleborough home of Hernandez.
