New England Public Radio's Music Director, John Montanari to Retire in 2013
Having seen great musicians come and go in his time on 88.5FM WFCR, from Leonard Bernstein to Gustavo Dudamel, and from Vladimir Horowitz to Simone Dinnerstein, classical music host and Music Director, John Montanari, will be retiring at the end of 2013.
There will be a more formal announcement about John's retirement once more of his plans are known, along with information about how the station will be celebrating his tenure with New England Public Radio in the coming months.
At the same time that announcement is made the station will announce its plans to fill his position.
"For thousands of listeners, John is the voice of WFCR, and one that will be deeply missed when he retires," said CEO and General Manager Martin Miller. "While I understand John's reasons for retiring now, I and our entire staff, will miss him as a colleague, and a friend."
New England Public Radio will continue to air locally-produced classical music Monday - Friday on WFCR.
