Dan Keefe, STPEC Brown Bag Lunch Series #2, UMass-Amherst

UMass alum Dan Keefe ’10 is a community organizer and resource developer at Out Now, a youth-led, adult-advised queer youth organization in Springfield that works to promote harm reduction, self-determination, and community building through anti-oppression organizing. Prior to working at Out Now, Dan worked on a variety of grassroots campaigns. As a UMass student, in addition to serving as Northeast Regional Coordinator with the Campus Anti-War Network and as Regional Campaign Organizer with Corporate Accountability International, Keefe was one of the central leaders in the Campaign for Justice for Jason Vassell (i.e., Justice for Jason, one of UMass’s most important recent activist campaigns). Since graduation, in addition to his work with Out Now, Dan spends a lot of time working with the Campaign for Justice for Charles Wilhite, a Springfield man wrongly accused of murder, convicted in an unfair trial, and facing life in prison without parole.

The other speakers on the panel are Elaine Arsenault, Vira Cage, Holly Richardson, Chino Rios and Shelley Alcott.
