Dr. Stephen Hinshaw, professor of psychology at UC Berkely, gave a talk entitled “Psychopathology & Stigma, Empirical Science & Narrative: The Need for Integration” during the Tay Gavin Erickson lecture series.
The lecture looked at the history of how those living with mental illness have faced discrimination and ostracism, as well as the science behind why much of that treatment within the society still remains the same today. He discussed the latest research related to the issue, and shared his own personal experience of living with someone with a mental illness.
Dr. Hinshaw is one of the worlds leading experts on ADHD and developmental psychopathology. He has published over 14 books and 300 scientific articles.
This was recorded March 24th, 2016, in the Campus Center at UMass Amherst.
