Event Description

Did you know that New Haven has the highest asthma hospitalization rate in the state - five times higher than the state average? Camp Easy Breezy, a New Haven Health Department initiative, is being held for the second summer to help tackle the childhood asthma epidemic in the city. Camp Easy Breezy will teach children suffering from asthma and their siblings how to use their asthma medications, identify asthma trigger, and better control their asthma while enjoying traditional camp activities with friends. A registered nurse will be on-site during normal camp hours and on field trips. New Haven has been recognized as a finalist in the Healthiest Cities & Counties Challenge for the New Haven Health Alliance which has a goal of decreasing childhood asthma and exposure to secondhand smoke, as well helping parents to quit smoking. Register online at www.cityofnewhaven.com/parks or call the Department of Parks, Recreation and Trees at 203-946-8020 until June 26th.
