Duo Oboe Agosto, comprised of musicians Ling-Fei Kang and Charles Huang, will present a recital of music celebrating the oboe at Loomis Chaffee on January 9, 2018, in the Hubbard Performance Hall at 9:55 a.m. The public is invited to attend, and admission is free of charge. The pair has taken part in numerous music festivals and performed at venues and universities across the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Asia. The duo performed at the International Double Reed and Asian Double Reed Society conferences and as the “ensemble-in-residence” at the Hartford Women Composers Festival. In the recent project “Daughter of the Sea,” an original composition written for the duo by Andrea Clearfield, Ms. Kang and Mr. Huang explored a new creative dimension by performing a composition that included music, spoken word, and choreography. Mr. Huang has performed in chamber, orchestral, and solo music recitals in the United States and abroad, and he has assumed instructional roles at universities and music schools across the United States. He teaches oboe and chamber music at The Hartt School Community Division and gives individual music instruction to Loomis students. Ms. Kang has performed as a chamber musician and soloist in North and South America and Asia. She served as professor of oboe at the Festival Eleazar de Carvalho in Fortaleza, Brazil, and has presented masterclasses at colleges and universities worldwide.
