Jazz a la Mode Film Series - Anita O'Day: The Life of a Jazz Singer
One of the greatest jazz singers of all time, Anita O'Day was highly esteemed by musicians as well as the public, with a style epitomized by her album Cool Heat. Her disregard for convention applied as much to singing as to a spectacularly messy life that included drug arrensts, several failed marriages and a herion addiction, all of which is recounted by O'day with a no-regrets sense of triumph.
Arrive early for a live jazz performance and stay after the film for a Q&A with Jazz a la Mode's Tom Reney.
