What’s a StorySlam? A StorySlam is a competition based on the art of storytelling. It puts emphasis on content and performance, encouraging storytellers to focus on what they’re saying and how they’re saying it. It is an exercise in crafting stories within a set time limit and it’s great entertainment.

The call for submissions runs from October 1-25. Ten storytellers will be selected from the submissions to share their true story, based on their interpretation of the theme, “Lost in Translation”. They will tell their stories without notes and with a five-minute time limit, and winners will be chosen by the audience. The top three winners will have their stories featured on NEPR’s AudioFiles website and will immediately qualify to perform in the Best of Valley Voices show in the spring of 2015.
