New Book Recounts Life in a Conservative Christian Congregation

Northampton writer James Ault was a New Left activist when he became interested the fast-growing New Right conservative movement. Over the course of three years, Ault observed a fundamentalist Christian church in a suburb of Worcester, Mass. He writes about that congregation in his new book Spirit and Flesh, one of the “Best Non-Fiction Books of 2004” according to the Christian Science Monitor. In a recent interview, Ault told WFCR’s Bob Paquette that most in the congregation held conservative views “before they became members of the church.”
