Love and Language

If you look up “love” in the dictionary, one definition is ” a strong positive emotion of regard and affection.” Another “to feel romantic and sexual desire and longing for somebody.” A few years ago, Amherst College professor Ilan Stavans was writing a magazine article on love. He was pouring over dictionaries in several languages to see if love was defined differently from language to language. He expected to find only slight variations. But that wasn’t the case, as he tells WFCR’s Bob Paquette. (Ilan Stavans new book is “Love and Language”)
