America’s 2008 presidential campaign is a topic of discussion around Indonesia. So much so that UMass Amherst political science professor Michael Hannahan was invited there to discuss the election. Hannahan traveled around the nation, from the volcanic island of Bali to the urban bustle of the capital, Jakarta. He met with Indonesian officials, political party leaders, academics, businessmen, and citizens. Indonesia is a predominantly Muslim country… Hannahan told WFCR’s Tina Antolni that informed a feeling of frustration from many Indonesians he spoke with about America’s foreign relations.
