The Hartford Symphony Orchestra Chooses a New Conductor

Carolyn Kuan is the new Music Director of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. Kuan is a lover of opera and contemporary music and has worked with orchestras around the world. She takes this new step in her career at a time when many American orchestras are struggling financially — and struggling to find new listeners as audiences are shrinking and aging. Kuan told WFCR’s Bob Paquette that active engagement with community institutions will be key to the Hartford Symphony’s future.
