Massachusetts’ First Online Public School

Schools nationwide are facing budget cutbacks and increased scrutiny from politicians and the public. That’s pushed many school districts to explore alternative educational options like charter schools, and increasingly — virtual schools — where students learn on a computer at home, instead of in a classroom.

This past fall, the Greenfield, Massachusetts school district began enrolling kindergartners through eighth-graders, and a few high schoolers, in Massachusetts’ first virtual academy. For WFCR, Peter Moskowitz reports.
