Massachusets Graduation Rates Good and Bad News

82 percent of Massachusetts high school seniors graduated last year. WFCR’s Susan Kaplan spoke with Stephen Sireci the director of The Center for Educational Assessment at Umass Amherst. He says state officials have tried to get a better handle on measuring drop out and graduation rates since passing the MCAS test became a requirement to earn a diploma in 2001.Sireci says there’s a need to pay attention to school districts with graduation rates that fall below the state average.
