Mubarak Suffers Stroke, May Taken To Hospital, Says Egyptian State TV

“Egypt’s state news agency said Tuesday that Hosni Mubarak has suffered a stroke, and prison officials said he is likely to be moved out of his prison hospital to a military facility nearby,” the AP reports.

State TV said Mubarak, 84, was in “critical” condition and that a defibrillator had to be used to restart his heart.

Quoting the MENA news agency, the AFP provides a slightly different take saying “Mubarak did not lose consciousness during the stroke.”

Mubarak is serving a life sentence for the death of civilians that occurred during the uprising that toppled him.
