Hello from Tampa, where tonight Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin is accepting the Republican Party’s vice presidential nomination.
Also this evening, the nation will hear from the party’s 2008 presidential nominee — Sen. John McCain — and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
And there will be a video tribute to Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, the libertarian-minded lawmaker who ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 and 2012. His son, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, will follow with an address to the delegates.
We’ll be following the action on the floor of the 2012 Republican National Convention as it happens and updating this post through the evening. So hit your “refresh” button to be sure you’re seeing our latest additions. Come join us. The convention reconvenes at 7 p.m. ET.
Also tonight, Frank James will be hosting another live chat about the proceedings. NPR stations will be broadcasting special coverage starting at 8 p.m. ET, which NPR.org will be streaming.
