The “Iconic Shelburne Falls Disaster ” One Year On

Anne Brauer is a quilter. She was at an art show outside Chicago around this time last year and, on August 28, 2011,  her friends came running up to her to let her know Shelburne Falls, MA was being flooded by the Deerfield River, and her studio – a pink building hard to miss on a grey day – was front and center on media outlets across the country. Tropical storm Irene not only changed her location, but how she designs quilts.
