The bomb threat at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams Thursday afternoon was prompted by a threatening letter. That’s according to Jim Stakenas, a vice president at MCLA.
“A student had found a letter in a bathroom in our Murdoch Hall, and immediately took it to a faculty member that he knew, and from that moment the faculty member called our public safety office and we went into our process for a bomb threat.”
The MCLA campus was evacuated to the North Adams Armory building, a short distance away. Students and staff stayed until the all-clear was given after 6 in the evening. No suspects have been identified publicly as of Friday afternoon. The investigation is being led by the Massachusetts State Police. MCLA has about 1300 students.
