Red Sox owner John Henry is declining to comment on a published report that he’s close to selling the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
Henry purchased the paper, along with the Boston Globe, from the New York Times Company in a deal that closed last month.
“The word on the street is that they have been dressing up the T&G, getting its financials in order for a sale. And that had been going on for a few weeks,” says the Boston Business Journal‘s Craig Douglas. But what we’ve heard is that a buyer or buyers have emerged and that – really – the finishing touches on a deal are being worked out right now.”
Henry has yet to comment publicly on his plans for the Telegram & Gazette, and a spokesperson declined comment Monday.
Earlier this month, a group of Central Massachusetts lawmakers sent a letter to Henry, asking him to give the Telegram & Gazette some of the same attention he has given to the Boston Globe.
