Trial Begins For Springfield Man Whose Case Has Attracted Courthouse Step Activism

The trial of Ayyub Abdul Alim began this week in Springfield.

More than two years ago he was arrested and charged with illegal  possession of a loaded firearm. He’s been in jail since then, maintaining the gun was not his and that he is being framed by the Springfield Police and the FBI. We spoke with Masslive reporter Michelle Williams about the trial ahead, and with Denise McWilliams from the New England Innocence Project about the growing trend of courtroom activism.
