A car dealership group in Western Massachusetts will pay $175,000 for what state Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office calls deceptive advertising.
The four dealerships are owned by Tommy and Carla Cosenzi, the brother-sister team who run shops in Hadley, Northampton and Charlton.
Carla stars in the TV commercials that led to some of the false advertising allegations.
The Attorney General’s office says it received complaints, investigated and found a pattern of ads pushing sales and promotions that were not actually available.
Carla Cosenzi could not be reached for comment, but the AG’s office says the Cosenzis dispute the allegations. Still, they’ve agreed to a series of conditions on future advertisements and to pay $175,000 in fines and court costs.
