Tuesday’s blizzard gave many people the day off. But some, like first responders, had to show up.
Out of the elements for a few moments, Officer Sean Klink said when it’s snowing like heavily, officers ride two-to-a cruiser. That’s because it takes longer for back-up to arrive — if needed — and as a safety precaution.
He said heavy snow also changes how officers in Pittsfield approach their duties.
“We try to go easy on the motor vehicle stuff and just be a truly reactive force on something like a day like today,” Klink said.
Klink said even after a long, cold day on the job, there would still be more work to do.
“We’ve got to take care of our driveways and everything,” Klink said. “And then we’ll be out here doing it all over again tomorrow.”
And if forecasters are correct, most people will be back to work Wednesday, too.
