As the NCAA Division I basketball tournaments begin, a handful of teams from New England will be in action.
On Wednesday night, the Providence College men’s team has to win a preliminary round game before the tournament really gets going — part of what’s called the “First Four.”

Two other New England teams, the universities of Vermont and Rhode Island, begin play later this week.
On the women’s side, New England’s only representatives both come from Connecticut: Quinnipiac, which is a first-round underdog, and UConn, which — at 107 straight wins — is never an underdog.

Massachusetts is well represented. Amherst and Tufts made the Final Four in the women’s bracket, and for the men — Williams and Babson.
