Amherst Rotary Awards Community Grant to New England Public Radio
The Rotary Club of Amherst ("RCA") announced today that it is awarding the third annual Rotary Club of Amherst Community Grant in the amount of $25,000 to New England Public Radio, specifically WFCR. This grant money will be used to purchase a digital audio storage and playback system. This is the hardware and software that allows New England Public Radio to record and replay National Public Radio programs.
New England Public Radio is in the middle of a major fund raising campaign and this grant will help leverage their efforts while specifically purchasing the storage and playback system. This digital audio storage and playback system will be housed in the Amherst studios. Rotary's $25,000 grant will be structured as a matching grant. Tax deductible contributions can be made to the New England Public Radio, WFCR & WNNZ in many forms and amounts. For more information on how you can contribute contact Cathy Ives (cathy@nepr.net), 413-545-3172 or visit our website www.nepr.net
The grant will be awarded at the Club's weekly lunch meeting at noon on May 24, 2012 at the Amherst Brewing Company (ABC), University Drive, Amherst, MA.
The impact of this grant is substantial; the digital audio storage and playback system is at the heart of New England Public Radio. This grant is a wonderful local "stamp of approval" that will influence individual giving along with being a key vehicle to help leverage government and foundation funding. This gift is one more tangible reminder of the good work Rotary is doing in the community.
