Feed Your Radio - Feed a Family Returns for the Third Year in a Row
We're back for the third year in a row with the fund drive that brings meals to individuals experiencing food insecurity in Western Massachusetts, and this year we're adding support to the Hartford area.
Feed Your Radio - Feed a Family will be on-air starting June 20, bringing assistance to our neighbors facing hunger through the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts and FoodShare of Hartford. Through the sponsorship of the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts and donors in Connecticut, Feed Your Radio - Feed a Family will provide a safety net for families who depend on meal programs not available during summer months, when school isn't in session.
"Our past successes in helping feed so many families through the Feed Your Radio - Feed a Family campaign is a testament to both the generosity of our community and to the strength of a great partnership with New England Public Radio and the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts," says Ron Ancrum, President of the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts.
For every pledge made to the stations during the on-air drive, twenty meals will go to local food banks. The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts will distribute meals to its 350 distribution agencies, and FoodShare will supplement the food available at 300 organizations in the Hartford area.
"This campaign brings together five community-minded organizations and all of our collected supporters to fight hunger while supporting standards of excellence in programming and journalism for which New England Public Radio is known," says Andrew Morehouse, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
One hundred percent of your pledge will ensure the continuation of the excellent programming you've come to expect from WFCR and all-news WNNZ. The money contributed during this Feed Your Radio - Feed a Family fund-drive will help meet our remaining Fiscal Year goal, which currently stands at $350,000. Those funds will ensure that New England Public Radio is on target to balance its $3.8M budget by the end of its fiscal year on June 30. To make a contribution, please visit nepr.net.
