The United Nations has made 2012 the International Year of the Co-Op, focusing on credit unions, textile makers, and stores, among others. The idea is to raise international awareness about a business model that could address poverty, un-employment, and community development. Next week at the U.N. in NYC, a new film about the history of food co-ops will be shown . Western Massachusetts based documentary maker Steve Alves is the producer. He calls it "Food for Change".
