"Hidden Wounds of War" Commission Releases Report

Date:
01/06/2009

A group of Massachusetts legislators, veterans and mental health professionals released a report yesterday on what they are calling "the hidden wounds of war." The report looks at mental health issues, including post traumatic stress disorder, depression and substance abuse problems-- that are plaguing a significant number of veterans returning to the bay state from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. State Senator Stephen Brewer from Barre, who served as a co-chair of the group, told WFCR's Tina Antolini that, in formulating this report, the commission heard from a range of people with personal experience of these issues.
