Schools nationwide are facing budget cutbacks and increased scrutiny from politicians and the public. That's pushed many school districts to explore alternative educational options like charter schools, and increasingly -- virtual schools -- where students learn on a computer at home, instead of in a classroom.

This past fall, the Greenfield, Massachusetts school district began enrolling kindergartners through eighth-graders, and a few high schoolers, in Massachusetts' first virtual academy. For WFCR, Peter Moskowitz reports.
