Now that Massachusetts' health cost control legislation is all but signed, doctors are stepping back to look at how it's likely to affect their medical practices. The law requires providers to slow down the rate at which they raise their prices -- linking it to the state’s economic growth rate. It also addresses the ways insurers compensate doctors for their services, and changes the medical practice climate. Doctor Richard Aghababian is President of the Massachusetts Medical Society, which represents physicians. He told New England Public Radio's Karen Brown that he thinks the law mostly balances the role of government with the rights of the private sector.
