Recently the Massachusetts Senate-- in what some say skirted a controversial discussion..voted quickly and with no debate, to approve a requirement that all doctors and nurses talk to dying patients about their end-of-life options. The measure was included in a sweeping state health care costs bill that the house expects to consider early next month. Mount Holyoke College President Lynn Pasquerella is a medical ethicist and believes there should be a national conversation about end of life issues.
