New England Public Radio Hosts Eastern Region Public Media's Annual Meeting in Springfield, MA

[Tuesday, October 18, 2011, AMHERST, MA.]  New England Public Radio, WFCR and all-news WNNZ, will host Eastern Region Public Media's annual meeting next week (October 24-26) at the Sheraton Monarch Place, Springfield, MA. The annual meeting brings together public radio professionals from more than seventy stations across the eastern United States for two full days of professional development, discussion of the current issues facing public broadcasting, and peer to peer networking.

Guest speakers include Bruce Theriault, Senior Vice President of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and Joyce Slocum, Interim CEO of NPR. Springfield Mayor, Domenic Sarno, will welcome attendees to Springfield on October 25, at the Sheraton Monarch Place.

"We are pleased to host the Eastern Region Public Media's (ERPM) Annual Meeting in Springfield this year," said Martin Miller, CEO & General Manager of New England Public Radio. "As a founding member of the organization, celebrating its 50th year of broadcasting on WFCR this year, it seemed fitting to host a major conference for our colleagues in our hometown."

Eastern Region Public Media is a member-based organization comprised of more than seventy public radio stations located from Maine to Florida and from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River. Through its mission to advance public media, ERPM is dedicated to enhancing and improving the ability of its member stations to serve their listeners and communities. ERPM provides and facilitates professional growth, advocacy and networking for our members.

ERPM serves as a central point of contact for exchanging ideas and sharing expertise in public media. As a diverse organization, ERPM plays a key leadership role that supports listeners and community service among its member stations.

The conference will open on Monday, October 24, with a reception hosted by New England Public Radio at The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. New England Public Radio will also provide tours of the station's Peggy and David Starr Broadcast Center, located in the WGBY building at 44 Hampden Street and of the Fuller Building at 1537 Main Street where the station plans a major expansion.
