Rintala Case Ends in Mistrial, Hung Jury

A mistrial has been declared in the trial of Cara Rintala, a Granby, Massachusetts woman accused of killing her wife in 2010. The case is notable for being the first murder case involving a married same-sex couple in the state. Twelve jurors deliberated for four days before telling Judge Mary Lou Rup they were unable to come to a unanimous decision, resulting in a hung jury. Rup then declared the case a mistrial. but state prosecutors are planning to re-try the case.
