Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell Delivers State of the State Address

The main theme of Connecticut governor Jodi Rell’s State of the State Address
yesterday was tax cuts. Tax cuts for businesses to spur economic growth, and in a big surprise, a proposal to eliminate the property tax on cars. As WFCRs Av Harris reports, Rell’s speech this year is not being well received by Democrats who control the General Assembly.

Connecticut Governor Rell Looks Back at 2005

2005 has been quite historic in Connecticut politics — former governor John Rowland was sentenced to prison; serial killer Michael Ross was executed; and civil unions for same-sex couples were enacted. Governor Jodi Rell has said one of her main goals this year was to restore public confidence in state government damaged by various corruption scandals. As governor Rell tells WFCR’s Av Harris, even though she vetoed a few clean government bills, many of her goals have been met.
