The four candidates vying for the open District Attorney’s seat in Hampden County all agree the criminal justice system needs fixing.
Mastroianni was nominated by President Obama to the U.S District Court in Springfield last September.

Hampden District Attorney Mark Mastroianni faced questions Tuesday in Washington about his views on marijuana and gun safety laws. Mastroianni appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is considering his nomination to the federal bench.
If confirmed by the Senate, Mastroianni would help ease the workload at the federal court in Springfield, much of which now falls on longtime District Judge Michael Ponsor.
A date for a re-trail was set today (Wednesday) for a Springfield man convicted of murder.
