Unnecessary Food Scares

Date:

Mad Cow Disease, E-coli in hamburger, Hepatitis A outbreaks in restaurants -- alarm bells sound regularly about our food supply. University of Massachusetts Professor Julie Caswell will discuss food scares today when she delivers a Distinguished Faculty lecture. Caswell is a Professor of Resource Economics and a member of the research team at the Food Marketing Policy Center. She says media reports about dangers to the food supply often lack a frame of reference, which can lead to unnecessary anxiety.

Caswell will discuss food scares in a Distinguished Faculty lecture this afternoon at 4:00 pm in the Massachusetts Room of the Mullins Center at UMass-Amherst.
