With so many soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afganistan, the courts are seeing a growing number of criminal and civil cases stemming from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder -- from homicide to domestic assault to drunk driving. Connecticut Justice Barry Schaller -- an appellate judge who retired from the state Supreme Court in 2008 -- writes about this trend in his new book, "Veterans on Trial -- the Coming Court Battles over PTSD." He tells New England Public Radio's Karen Brown that the legal system has been addressing PTSD since the term was coined after the Vietnam war.
