Thousands In Western Massachusetts Lose Power After Storm

Oct 30, 2017

A storm has left many people across Massachusetts without power. As of 4:00 p.m. Monday, more than 260,000 homes and businesses still had no electricity.

Several western Massachusetts towns were particularly hard hit. More than eighty percent of customers in Wilbraham, East Longmeadow, Hampden, and Monson lost power at some point.

Deb Lodi of Wilbraham was one of them. She was sitting in her car in her driveway today so she could charge her phone.

"I woke up at 3:11 and I knew it was out," she said. "But I'd been awake before that. The power was out maybe around 2:00. I don't know. And I could see that the trees were fierce blowing."

She's used to far worse storms. Lodi and her husband moved from Springfield after their house was hit by a tornado in 2011.
