New England Public Radio listeners donated $122,000 in support of programming and operational expenses over the course of the station’s “December Dash” fund drive. The drive kicked off on December 12, with NEPR participating in the region-wide Valley Gives Day e-philanthropy effort.
The station finished the 24-hour giving day at midnight having raised $56,099 from 631 contributors, and qualifying in third place for both number of donors and dollars raised in the larger non-profit category. The third place finish qualified the station for an additional $10,000 in grants from the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts. The station also received a “golden ticket” grant for $1,200, and raised $4,770 on its own website during Valley Gives Day, for a total of $72,069.
The “December Dash” continued through Tuesday morning, and gave listeners the opportunity to participate in several “dollar-for-dollar matches,” as well as the chance to win a trip for two to New Orleans for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival next spring.
“We’re thrilled at the results of the December Dash, and especially happy with Valley Gives Day,” said Cathy M. Ives, NEPR’s Executive Director of Development and Major Gifts. “We can’t thank our contributors enough for continuing to support the news, music and entertainment they find on New England Public Radio and the NEPR News Network – WNNZ.”
Listeners who did not have the opportunity to contribute to NEPR during the December Dash can do so at anytime at nepr.net.
