NEPR’s Feed Your Radio, Feed a Family Campaign Underway

New England Public Radio launched its Feed Your Radio, Feed a Family fundraising campaign on Saturday and is happy to report that over 800 listeners have joined in the effort to date. Feed Your Radio, Feed a Family is a special partnership between New England Public Radio, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts and the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts to raise awareness about hunger in the region and help The Food Bank distribute food across western Massachusetts.

For every contribution made to New England Public Radio during the campaign (March 1 – March 11, 2014) a group of donors from the Community Foundation will donate funds to provide food for a day for a family of four – 12 meals – to The Food Bank. As of this morning, 14,004 meals have been donated. NEPR hopes to have participation from over 2,200 listeners during the campaign.

“We are happy to once again offer this unique opportunity to our listeners,” said Martin Miller, CEO and General Manager of New England Public Radio. “Each week, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts serves over 135,000 of our friends and neighbors. Our listeners want to support their good work, while at the same time supporting their public radio station – it’s a win win.”

“We are grateful for the generosity of the many donors who make the Feed Your Radio, Feed a Family campaign possible.  This campaign has been an incredibly successful partnership that we have been proud to be a part of,” said Katie Allan Zobel, President of the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts. “Collaborations like this create unique opportunities to do more good in our communities.”

This year, the campaign has a special bonus thanks to Dean’s Beans Organic Coffee and O’Connell’s Convenience Plus. When we reach the goal of 2,200 individual contributions in support of Feed Your Radio, Feed a Family, Dean’s Bean’s Organic Coffee and O’Connell’s Convenience Plus will donate 2,000 gallons of gas to fuel The Food Bank’s delivery trucks and mobile food pantries.

Contributions can be made at NEPR’s secure pledge page, by calling 1.800.639.8850 or by sending a check to NEPR, Hampshire House, 131 County Circle, Amherst, MA 01003.
