New England Public Radio’s Executive Director for Programming and Content, Helen Barrington, will step down on April 18, 2014. After nearly 8 years at NEPR, Ms. Barrington will join VOICES BOSTON (formerly PALS Children’s Chorus) as its Executive Director.
“Helen has done great work for the station over her tenure, and while we are sad to see her go, this is an exciting move for her,” said NEPR’s CEO and General Manager, Martin Miller.
New England Public Radio will conduct a national search to fill the position beginning in December, following the move of its headquarters from Amherst to downtown Springfield. In the meantime, the station has hired John Voci as Interim Executive Director for Programming and Content.
Mr. Voci has worked in all areas of public media including radio, TV and digital, since 1977. He joined WGBH Boston in 1981 working in a variety of capacities over thirty-two years. He managed WGBH’s expansion and development of three broadcast services and six radio channels as well as the station’s move to new facilities in 2007. He’s produced radio programs for National Public Radio, Public Radio International and WGBH; television projects for WGBH’s Basic Black; digital projects for a variety a WGBH initiatives and was Technical Director for many of the station’s pioneering digital broadcasts. Mr. Voci is a certified Project Management Professional specializing in project management and media consulting for clients in broadcast, digital media and construction.
