Beginning Monday, August 4th, New England Public Radio will air The Takeaway with John Hockenberry from 11:00-noon on the NEPR News Network. The Takeaway will replace Tell Me More which has been cancelled by NPR. Tell Me More’s last show will be Friday, August 1.
“We’re sorry about the cancellation of Tell Me More but excited by the opportunity to offer The Takeaway with John Hockenberry,” said John Voci, Executive Director for Programming and Content for NEPR. “John is an award winning journalist and an engaging host that will add a distinctive dimension to our program service.”
The Takeaway offers a fresh perspective on the news of the day, including critical conversations, reports from the field, and listener commentary, highlighting a varied blend of national and international news. Recent programs have included an interview with a third-generation Palestinian refugee, a conversation about the practicality of legalizing marijuana, and a piece on the music and life of Afrobeat super-star, Fela Kuti.
The Takeaway is a co-production of PRI (Public Radio International) and WNYC Radio in collaboration with The New York Times and WGBH Boston.
