A week after Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker announced he was courting the massive Amazon headquarters to come to his state, the Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development will be addressing issues that could affect the giant retailer.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has awarded $100,000 to Northampton to come up with an advertising strategy.

The Trump administration announced Thursday that it has temporarily waived a U.S. shipping restriction for Puerto Rico known as the Jones Act.

Under the law, only U.S.-flagged ships are allowed to move goods between any U.S. ports. Now foreign-flagged vessels also will be able to move shipments from the U.S. mainland to Puerto Rico and between ports there. The move is intended to boost the delivery of much-needed relief supplies after Hurricane Maria battered the U.S. territory last week.

The Commerce Department has announced that it is hitting Canadian aircraft-maker Bombardier with a hefty 220 percent tariff for its top-end passenger planes. The tariff follows the department's preliminary finding in favor of U.S. rival Boeing's complaint that the smaller company received unfair government subsidies.

The trade row is over the Montreal-based Bombardier's 100- to 150-seat C-Series passenger jets.

The town manager in Enfield, Connecticut, said officials are willing to talk to toy-maker LEGO about possible incentives to keep as many employees there as possible.

Denmark-based LEGO Group announced this week it would cut some 1,400 positions worldwide, but has not said how many cuts would affect its U.S. headquarters in Enfield, which employs 715 people.

LEGO plans to cut about 1,400 jobs worldwide. The toy company, whose U.S. headquarters is in Enfield, Connecticut, saw revenue drop 5 percent for the first half of 2017, compared to the same period last year.
