Brianna Brochu, a former University of Hartford student, was arraigned in Hartford this morning and charged in connection with alleged attacks on her roommate.

The Department of Justice has opened a probe into the role of race in Harvard University's admissions policies and is threatening to sue unless Harvard turns over documents by a Dec. 1 deadline, according to correspondence obtained by NPR.

In a church basement in Roxbury, a group of immigrants discuss the documentaries they’re learning how to film. Guiding them are volunteers with the nonprofit Community Supported Film.

“It’s incredible to be in a room with 10 people from 10 different cultures, 10 different countries, different religions, different perspectives — in terms of our outlook on the immigrant experience,” says filmmaker Michael Sheridan, who leads the nonprofit.

Meningitis Diagnosed In Student On UMass Amherst Campus

University of Massachusetts Amherst officials say a student on campus has been diagnosed with meningitis weeks after another student fell ill with a related illness and are suggesting students consider an additional vaccination as a precaution.

Prosecutors have filed new charges against members of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Penn State, alleging that newly recovered video shows them serving pledge Timothy Piazza excessive quantities of alcohol. The charges filed Monday — which range from involuntary manslaughter to aggravated assault and hazing — rely on surveillance footage taken during the pledge event connected with the 19-year-old's death.

“Privilege” remains a buzzword on today’s campuses.

But for Julia Vann, studying one recent evening in the Amherst College library, it isn’t something theoretical.

The guilt, she says, started as soon as she arrived at school.

“Knowing that I had as much food as I wanted, and I could turn up the heat as high as I wanted — just like, little things that really shocked me about my day-to-day life.“
