A coalition of 16 states, including four from New England, fought the Trump administration in court on Tuesday. They want to overturn the president's decision to end DACA, a program protecting immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children.

Retail stores in Massachusetts are expected to start selling marijuana legally in the state this summer. Some cities and towns have taken steps to temporarily block pot shops within their borders. And others have banned them altogether.

Thousands of New England Patriots fans turned out Monday morning to give the New England Patriots a rousing sendoff on their way to Minneapolis and Super Bowl 52. 

Eversource’s Northern Pass transmission line is the sole project picked for long-term energy contract negotiations with Massachusetts.

Officials made the announcement Thursday afternoon, less than a week before New Hampshire begins its final permitting deliberations on the controversial project.

Northern Pass would carry 1,090 megawatts of power from Hydro Quebec dams to the New England grid, over a partly-buried 192-mile power line. It would run under New Hampshire’s White Mountains and mainly follow existing transmission lines, ending in Deerfield.

Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Burlington, Vermont, are two of 23 jurisdictions that received a letter from the U.S. Justice Department threatening to pull certain federal grant funds if the communities cannot prove they comply with federal immigration authorities.

The defending NFL Champion New England Patriots will face the Philadelphia Eagles at the Super Bowl on Feb. 4 in Minnesota — setting the teams up for a rematch of their 2005 league championship contest and giving Philadelphia a chance to avenge the sting of that loss.

New England quarterback Tom Brady rallied his team in the final minutes for a comeback victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the American Football Conference championship. Brady threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Danny Amendola with just 2:48 left on the clock, putting the Patriots at 24-20.
