Infosys To Build $20 Million Innovation Center In Hartford

An Indian information technology firm says it will build a $20 million innovation center in Hartford, Conn.

This is how a guitar prodigy starts out: Kiam Rennix of Springfield, Massachusetts, was seven years old, watching a Saturday children's show on public TV in his grandmother's house. A segment came on showing how to make your own string instrument. 

School students around Connecticut joined a national school walkout in protest against gun violence Wednesday. But the way the event was handled by school administration varied widely from district to district.

After students across the country walked out of class in a call for gun control legislation, teens and adults in Springfield, Massachusetts, held a rally outside the headquarters of gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson.

New England residents are charged some of the highest consumer rates for power in the country. This comes as the budget for the region's electric grid operator rose by more than 30 percent over five years.

Preservationists for a 130-year-old black church with ties to civil rights pioneer W.E.B. Du Bois have received federal grant money to turn it into a community center. 

High school students on Long Island and in Connecticut walked out of their classes today in solidarity with students around the country in a nationwide call for legislative action to end gun violence in schools.

The Connecticut House of Representatives has approved Democratic Governor Dannel Malloy’s nominee to be Connecticut’s next chief justice by a one-vote margin. State Supreme Court Associate Justice Andrew McDonald’s nomination now goes to the State Senate.

While Vermont is by far the highest producing maple syrup state in the United States, 70 percent of the world's maple syrup is made in Québec.

And that's where the benchmark global price for bulk maple syrup — the price paid by processors to Vermont's maple syrup producers — is set each year by a powerful, but legal, cartel.

Connecticut has spent over $50 million helping schools beef up security since 2013. Some of that money -- $3.2 million -- has gone to private schools, which are reimbursed at a higher rate than many public schools.
