Helen Barrington has had a varied career in public radio. She came to WFCR after a stint as a producer at the international news program, “The World” and the nationally distributed program “Sound & Spirit,” both based at WGBH in Boston. For the WFMT Radio Network in 2005, Barrington produced a 25-part series on the 12th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth. From 1994-98, she lived in the Netherlands, working for the English language service of Radio Netherlands. Barrington has a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution from UMass Boston. As program director, she is responsible for the station’s overall on-air “sound.” Barrington oversees the news staff, music programmers and other announcers. She is also listeners’ primary contact at the station, as well as attending events in the community.
